- Peter retires handing baton to Jason
A family run business is facing some changes after nearly 30 years.
Jason Gammon is taking over Ilex Heating Services, after his father Peter decided to retire.
Peter set up the heating business in 1975, when they bought Ilex Stores. At first they offered gas appliance services, but it soon developed to include Calor Gas delivery and LPG caravan site work.
Peter said: "Jason spent 10 years working with me when he left school. During that time he served his apprenticeship and gained a lot of experience. He's recently rejoined Ilex, after valuable time spent with other companies in the heating industry, bringing new opportunities to the business, including oil and air-conditioning services. After bringing Ilex into the 21st century I now feel it's a good time to pass the baton to Jason, allowing me to take things easy."
Jason said: "Until now, Ilex has been a mostly appliance care company, but now I'm offering central heating installations and boiler changes in both gas and oil, while continuing appliance care. There is also a lot of emphasis on energy efficiency in homes including the reduction of harmful greenhouse gases to which the old inefficient boilers are a contributor. Customers can have a free no obligation survey which will highlight the areas of their heating system that could be upgraded to improve efficiency."
